Support the Fight

49% of U.S. Workers Are Struggling with Alcohol and Substance Abuse.

A recent study shows a significant increase in alcohol and other substance use affecting 49% of American workers. Of the workers reporting lower productivity or missed work because of substance abuse or addiction has nearly doubled since 2019. As a community of business leaders, we have the power to change this.

Fighting from the front lines

  • The Ohio drug problem has reached an all-time high. In fact, heroin use in Ohio increased 35 percent over just a few months in 2020. Additionally, over 500 Ohioans have died from overdoses in a single month.
  • Akron, Ohio sees 140% increase in overdose deaths in 2021.
  • Between May 2019 and May 2020, more than 81,000 people died from an overdose in the U.S. Between those 12 months, Ohio reported a nearly 22% increase in deaths.
  • *415 million pills dispensed in 2019 in Ohio. That is 36 pills for every man, woman and child.
  • 4 out of every 5 heroin users started with prescription opioids.

Solve it here and teach the nation how!

Akron’s history includes the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous, so it makes perfect sense to be the place where drug addiction solutions/recovery is born.
